"Four Arts Name Architect for Upcoming Education Building Renovation"
Harry Elson, a New York based Architect, has been named the lead designer on The Society of the Four Arts upcoming renovation of the Fitz Eugene Dixon Education Building. Local Architect Keith Spina will serve as the associate architect on the project.
Elson spoke at a meeting of the Four Arts Board of Trustees on February 18 and outlined his vision for the building. According to Elson, plans for the education building will include a small auditorium, five classrooms, additional office space and meeting space, as well as a studio apartment for an artist, who will conduct seasonal artist-in-residency programs through Four Arts Campus on the Lake Education Series.
The Four Arts is launching a capital campaign to fund the renovation, which is expected to cost at least thirteen million dollars.
Harry Elson Architect PC (HEAPC) is a multi-disciplinary architectural firm based in New York City. Founded by Mr. Elson in 1998, HEAPC is know for it's clean, crisp design aesthetic.
The firm's work has been internationally recognized for design excellence in a variety of publications including Abitare, Architectural Record, House & Garden, Interior Design, and The New York Times as well as the architectural monographs New American House 2: Country, Sea & Cities, Lofts and Tropical Modernism.
Campus on the Lake was launched in 2001 to provide workshops and lectures on topics related to art, music, drama and literature. In the past decade, the program has served tens of thousands of patrons who have participated in classes in opera, painting, photography, literature and more. Lectures on topics from architecture to entertaining attract a loyal cadre of followers.
As demand for Campus on the Lake increased, the Four Arts was meet with the challenge of finding space for the many ongoing programs. With the renovation of the new education building, Campus on the Lake will have increased capacity to expand its offerings.
