"Doing Your Homework" by Helen Kirwan-Taylor

Computers have lessened the amount of paperwork with which we have to deal every day. As a result, storage is a major consideration when planning a home office - particularly storage within easy reach, as in art consultant Sarah Elson's home office.

It was designed by her brother-in-law Harry Elson, a New York-based architect, from an L-shaped sitting room. The walls are lined with maple wood.

"Harry gave me what I wanted - a room of my own in all respects. It works well and it's my sanctuary" Sarah Elson.
